The new Ford Bronco is arguably one of the best out-of-the-box offroad vehicles on the market. Its 35" tires and stock gears keep the engine and transmission turning at just the right speed....almost. Adding 37" tires, most people recognize the constant shifting of the transmission as it 'hunts' for a gear that works best with those larger tires. Our tests on our Bronco Badlands edition with 37 inch tires, ran a little low in the RPMs, lugging that engine and transmission. This happens because the larger tires reduce your engine's RPMs below the optimal power band. Re-gearing the differentials in your vehicle is the only way to get your vehicle back into its optimal operating RPM range, thus improving performance and reducing strain on your vehicle's drive-train.
Re-gearing our test Bronco to 5.29 ratio gearing with 37 inch tires, brought the RPMs up to a perfect 2000 at 60mph, giving the ideal shift points in the power band, resulting in more power and better fuel efficiency.
